Statistics of the Child Protection Centres for 2015
In 2015, 12.884 parents, adolescents, and children were counselled. In about one quarter of all cases the parents or custodial parents, children or adolescents were seeking advice on their own initiative.
The main reasons for demanding help according to estimations of the counsellors were problems of the parents or the child’s well-being at risk, the latter mostly in form of sexual violence.
The majority of families who came to a child protection centre had children aged 0-11 years.
The statistics also show the close cooperation of the centres in case management. The most important partners for cooperation were the local youth welfare services followed by institutions of the health care services.
One fundamental field of work in all centres is special counselling for professional workers. Especially staff of day care facilities for children, institutions for child care, as well as youth welfare services benefited from the offers when they had hints of children at risk.
